KissMe Context
The KissMe Facebook application was created by KissMe, LLC, sprung as a result of Stanford's new Facebook course. The application, which has over 50,000 users from around the world, allows users to send virtual kisses to their Facebook friends. With Valentine's Day on the way, KissMe needed some love, particularly V-Day-related banners for the application's homepage.
Process
I designed the banners with the intent to maintain the brand while getting users' attention. I used a lipstick-looking font and designed the lips to match the current logo. I took and edited the photos (using myself as a model) with the goal of creating a fun and sexy vibe. Knowing that interactivity with the audience creates a positive response (whether in a presentation or a Facebook application), I came up with the idea of allowing users to submit their own kiss quotes and photos for use in the banner. The quotes and photos would change daily, encouraging users to visit the application everyday to see whether they are famous :).
Be Mine Context
Be Mine is a Facebook application by KissMe, LLC that allows users to send valentines (or "hearts") to their Facebook friends. The application takes a romantic approach and was recently released in anticipation of Valentine's Day.
Process
As Be Mine is a new application (unlike KissMe), the design of these banners would establish a brand. I designed the banners to feel romantic, passionate and couples-oriented. I used a curvy, feminine font and chose a silver and black color scheme to look timeless, almost remniscient of prom. Using KissMe, LLC's iStock account, I chose and edited iStock photos that would evoke a highly emotional response from users. By reminding users of romantic relationships every time they visit the homepage, users are more inclinded to come back to the application just for that lovin' feeling.
Be My Valentine Context
Be My Valentine is KissMe, LLC's humorous version of a valentine application. The team launched the two valentine applications simultaneously as an experiment to see which approach would be more popular among Facebook users. For this reason, the team wanted to differentiate the styles of the two applications as much as possible.
Process
Like Be Mine, the design of the Be My Valentine banners would build the brand. I designed the banners to appear completely unrelated to Be Mine, using a style that is fun, cute and entertaining. I used a scripty font and a fire-engine red and white color scheme to resemble the playful, nostalgic valentines that Americans grew up with as children. Using KissMe, LLC's iStock account, I chose and edited iStock images that users would find funny or adorable. By inspiring users to laugh and have fun with the application, users are more likely to want to share the experience with their friends.
